Navigating the AI Revolution: A Practical Guide for Business Implementation

You want to implement AI in your business. You're overwhelmed by information and misinformation. Some claim AI will destroy humanity, others say you won't survive the next few years without it, and everyone else pretends to know exactly what's happening and claims to be using AI daily.

Naturally, you wonder how to approach this revolution and avoid being left behind. Despite having access to a vast amount of data, everything about AI seems murky. Why is that?

Currently, there are two types of people writing about AI: salespeople and marketing experts on one side, and AI technical experts on the other. The former try to profit from the newly created hype, while the latter constantly push forward with ideas to improve AI's technical aspects. Both share a common disinterest in the practical application of AI in business to solve everyday situations faced by business professionals.

Therefore, it's best to pause for a moment before spending money, time, and resources on the wrong projects. AI is too expensive a toy to use carelessly. In many cases, the problems you're solving do not require AI but can be successfully tackled with existing software engineering techniques.

Through a series of articles, I will attempt to uncover the areas of business where it makes sense to consider AI solutions. My goal is to present AI to business professionals in simple terms to ease their understanding and encourage the right application of AI. The possibilities are indeed vast, but I aim to avoid futuristic visions suitable for the sci-fi genre at all costs. I want to stay within the realm of what is possible and realistically achievable today with technology that is already available. As AI develops, we will adopt new solutions.

There are no shortcuts to adopting AI for any company. AI projects that are executed without careful planning are doomed to fail. First, one must arm themselves with knowledge, understand the various possibilities, and the prerequisites for successful AI implementation. Then, one should proceed with planning, resource allocation, and carefully executing all necessary steps to move toward the goal properly.
